ON HARNESSING THE POTENTIALS IN AGRIBUSINESS AS A TOOL UNDER THE ECONOMIC RECESSION

WELCOME

YESAA is a youth oriented initiative for the encouragement and attraction of youths to Agribusiness, bearing in mind the enormous amount of opportunities in the agricultural value chain, and need to vary the labor composition in the sector, given the ageing population of Farmers.

As is known, youth involvement in Agribusiness in Africa , amongst other factors, is hampered by lack of knowledge on the opportunities in the sector, challenges with start-up funding, non-availability of affordable land, and to a large extent, lack of basic Entrepreneurial skill in Agribusiness Management. Additionally , young people, from traditional practices, do not see a good future with Agriculture , as it is often portrayed as very laborious, unrewarding and vocation for the rural poor. That mind set has to change. The huge population of young people are a demography that must be harnessed, cultivated, and and nurtured to both national and global use.

When the youths are involved, the future is better secured, in terms of food security, jobs, and sundry economic multipliers….more…..

TESTIMONIALS

JICA is proud to be affiliated with YESAA and will aid the Students Exchange Development Scheme which provides participants with the opportunity to study abroad on a short-term basis in the field of agriculture and agribusiness. YESAA exchange program is an important step towards finding a job after graduation. its a great platform to learn about companies in your field, help you develop your own professional working skills, and provide an opportunity for hands on experience.

YESAA is the best thing to happen to me this year. I was very skeptical about signing up, after attending YESAA all i could think of, was going out and telling everyone i know to become a member. YESAA is the way forward for the Youths. I am very glad the be part of it

YESAA’s high capacity building Training is a great way to achieve youth empowerment and food security in Nigeria. With the high rate of unemployment in the country, engaging the youth in various forms of agribusnesses will help checkmate unemployment and food security in Nigeria. YESAA is the way forward for the Nigerian Youths.

I am impressed to see first-hand the takeoff of a noble initiative for youths in agribusiness. This is what Nigeria needs right now. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will continue to support YESAA given that it is a gateway for the Youths and future leaders of this great Nation into agribusiness. We believe the young will grow and we will do all to encourage their inclusion in Agribusiness.

I’m pleased to be associated with YESAA, as a Patron and I believe that young people are key to agricultural development. We must coach and train the Youths on how to be successful in Agribusness as mentors and business leaders.

YESAA has proven to be a great scheme for the youths with many valuable discussions on the opportunities in agribusinsess. Luckily the event has coincided with AGRIKEXPO & CONFERENCES which showcased Agribusiness from overseas and Nigeria, in action. The NABG will continue to work closely with YESAA to harness the potentials of the Youths as a bridge for more agricultural productivity/food supply.
